Ridley Scott Reveals About ‘Prometheus 2’ And The Search For A Creator
Three years ago, in an attempt to create a prequel for the popular “Alien” film franchise, film maker Ridley Scott came up with “Prometheus,” whose only hints towards the “Alien” film franchise was the existence of an alien like creature, that, at the end of the film, came out of another alien’s chest. However, the film tried to explore several deeper themes, such as the search for a creator, or a higher divine being, Prometheus crew’s search for the elusive Engineers, alien creatures who were supposed to be man kind’s creators. However, the film left most hanging with unanswered questions that Scott hopes to be able to have answered in the sequel of the film. Read on to learn more about Ridley Scott’s thoughts and plans for the sequel of “Prometheus.”
The end of “Prometheus” left fans and viewers with a thousand more questions as Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw, and Michael Fassbender’s Android Dave, left the moon they were currently on, after the events of the film to continue their search for the Engineers, alien like creatures who were thought to be the creators of the human race.
According to Deadline’s interview with director Ridley Scott, one thing that they can be sure of is the fact that both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, albeit his entire body, will be back for the sequel of the film.
According to an interview that Collider did with the film maker at the Toronto International Film Festival, where his most recent film, “The Martian,” was well received, Scott mentioned that the sequel will most definitely follow up things with the questions that were being asked in the first film and more- such as asking who the Engineers really were, and why they created humankind, and something as “evil” as the bacteria or virus that resulted in the deaths of almost the entire Prometheus crew.
This, according to his interview with Deadline, is a very important question to ask, as he does believe that no one and nothing on this planet came to be simply by accident, which is reflected most especially in Elizabeth Shaw.
According to Cinema Blend, a finished script hasn’t been finished yet, but it seems like that will have to be finalized in the next couple of months if they plan to push through with their original schedule of beginning to film in early 2016. Also, Rapace mentioned that aside from exploring the nature of creators and creation, the film might also has other things closely related to most creation stories and mythological stories- demons.
