Rihanna Calls Rachel Dolezal A ‘Hero;’ RiRi Reveals Why She Didn’t Leave Chris Brown Even After Domestic Violence!
The former leader and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Rachel Dolezal recently emerged as a subject of controversy and ridicule after her estranged parents disclosed the fact that she was born white and trying to show herself African-American. However, the Barbadian singer Rihanna has supported her saying that she truly admires Dolezel. Continue reading to know more in details.
While having a conversation with Vanity Fair, the “R&B” singer opined that she admired Dolezal for stirring up a discussion about race. The 37-year-old American civil rights activist created headlines in June after she claimed to be the victim of racial discrimination. Her self-identification at first became the matter of controversy in June this year when her parents went against her. They had produced a copy of their daughter Montana birth certificate and claimed that she is of German and Czech heritage.
Dolezal’s parents even said that she started identifying herself as a part of African-American community since 2007. Based on their allegations, an investigation was carried on by Elizabeth Banas, a professional genealogist, who later found only white ancestors in the last 400 years. Banas also found ancestors of Czech, Dutch, German and Swedish.
“I think she (Dolezal) was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit. Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up,” Rihanna said in a tone of supporting her.
According to The Guardian, Rihanna also openly discussed about her relationship with ex-beau Chris Brown and she recalled those days when she became a victim of domestic violence at his hand in 2009.
“It’s not a subject to sweep under the rug, so I can’t just dismiss it like it wasn’t anything, or I don’t take it seriously. But, for me, and anyone who’s been a victim of domestic abuse, nobody wants to even remember it,” Rihanna said.
She also added that she could have moved ahead but she got back together with Brown with a noble objective to change him.
