According to the Huffington Post, the “Umbrella” and “Cheers” singer’s interlude to her forthcoming album is very appropriate in celebration of 4/20. Rihanna recently stated in an interview with V Magazine that she loves the interludes on her upcoming album.
“Dude, I’m in love with my interludes. This one called ‘James Joint’ is on constant repeat.” Rihanna told V Magazine.
The song is so popular in fact, it has cause Rihanna’s website RihannaNow.com to crash on multiple occasions. Fact Mag has described the song as a “brief, intimate piece, which features wandering bass and chiming melodies.” The marijuana and 4/20 inspirations are very prevalent in the song’s writing to as Rihanna sings, “I’d rather be smoking weed whenever we breathe, every time you kiss me, don’t say that you miss me, just come get me.”
Rihanna has released three singles from her new studio album, which is set to be her eighth. It includes “Bitch Better Have My Money,” “FourFiveSeconds,” which features Kanye West and Paul McCartney, and “American Oxygen.”
It is also worth noting that 27-year old Rihanna has had issues with drug use in the past. A controversial video shows her allegedly doing cocaine, but she is adamant in defending that it was only marijuana.
