Robert Downey Jr. Is Suiting Up for ‘Captain America 3’

By passing all the “Iron Man 4” rumors, Robert Downey Jr. is under heavy negotiations to be part of “Captain America 3.” Read on to learn more about this scoop.

The moment the credits of “Iron Man 3” started rolling marked the time that people, especially fans, started asking if there was going to be a fourth installment. Since last year, talks about the creation of “Iron Man 4” were as hazy as ever. Going back and forth, everyone was anxious to find out if the fourth film would be part of the unannounced Marvel movie projects in the coming years. Now, after a series of yeses, nos and maybes, a heavily sourced speculation is suggesting an ongoing negotiation with the off-screen Tony Stark to take part in the three-peat “Captain America” movie franchise. Should this be proven true, it confirms Downey Jr.’s hints about Iron Man playing a huge part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ,and we finally get why he’s been going back and forth with his “Iron Man 4” comments.

In Variety’s report, Downey Jr. is strongly believed to be in the final phase of his negotiations with Marvel as they are signing him on to join “Captain America 3.” Long has it been known that the we’ll be seeing the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Avengers 3,” but what we didn’t know was that Downey was actually going through the process of striking a huge deal with Marvel studios, as he will be suiting up as Iron Man in the third "Captain America" film.

Not only does this enunciate that we will be seeing more of Downey in the coming Marvel ouputs, but this also suggests the big screen adaptation of the Civil War storyline based on the comic books. If it really happens to be so, a jump start of a new phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to take place as the Civil War is the effect created by a huge rift in the heroes of the Marvel Universe, as both sides will be fighting each other off blatantly to stand for what they believe in.

Be that as it may, The Hollywood Reporter highlighted that CAA, Marvel and Downey’s agency, has yet to release a comment on the matter, but it’s apparent that the negotiations are on and are in a sensitive phase. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait for the final confirmation on the matter. “Captain America 3” will be helmed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo and is penned by duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Filming is due to begin next spring and is set to be released on May 6, 2016.
