Robert Downey Jr Walks out of the Avengers Interview with Krishnan Guru Murthy
The second part of the Hollywood blockbuster movie, “Avengers” is all set to release. Robert Downey Jr. is on the moves to promote “The Age of Ultron”. But in a recent interview, things didn’t go very well. After few minutes of questioning regarding “The life of Iron Man” and two tensed awkward minutes of questions about the eerie past, Robert stood up and bailed on an interview with the famous Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru Murthy.
Krishnan Guru Murthy started the interview by asking about the life and Robert’s ideologies of Tony Stark, the protagonist of the Iron Man series. Murthy then swiftly turned the interview towards the flamboyant life of Tony Stark and bluntly asked Robert whether the attitude of Tony was derived from his own life and bringing, to which, Robert just smiled and tried to play very smoothly.
It was obvious that in the interview, Murthy did not want to talk about movies alone. He later asked Robert about an interview which he gave to the New York Times in 2008. In that interview, Robert quoted, “You can’t go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal.”
When Murthy bluntly asked about his perspective towards being a liberal, Republican or a Democrat, the actor added, “I was talking to the person who was doing the interview that day, and that just happened to be my opinion. That’s the nice thing, you can have opinions and they kind of change and flow.”
The conversation became heated when Murthy asked Robert about the relationship which he shared with his father. At that point of the interview, Robert just smiled and got up from his place and before leaving the place, he called Murthy a ‘schmuck’.
As we all know that Channel 4 News is one of the best daily hard news shows in the world and has won armfuls of international awards for its reporting. In its 25 years of history, they have uncovered the Sri Lanka massacre and indeed were the first people in Libya as it fell. Since joining the team in 1998, Murthy has fronted many big happenings around the world, but he certainly doesn’t take interview of the celebrities that well!
Fans of Robert Downey Jr were outraged and expressed their anger on Twitter. This is not the first time that Krishnan Guru Murthy stirred the questions from reel life to the real. Two years back, Murthy asked Quentin Tarantino about the onscreen violence for which QT said, “I’m shutting your butt down.”
