Kate Middleton and Prince William have been putting the finishing touches on their new country home, Anmer Hall. Kate is supervising last minute details before the 10-bedroom home becomes ready to live in. According to news.com.au, the entire renovation expenditure is approximately $2.7 million.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s new mansion also has an old wood store, which has been altered into a nanny flat.  Maria Borallo is the nanny of Prince George.

The work on the mansion began in September 2013, after King’s Lynn and West Borough Council agreed to a series of planning applications.

It features a 16ft by 16ft garden room supposed to have cost between £250,000 and £300,000 and was designed by Charles Morris, one of Prince Charles’s favourite architects.  The garden room consists of:

  • Glass ceiling
  • With a large dining table
  • Outdoor pool
  • Tennis court
  • New clay pantiles roof, which was estimated to have cost over £500,000

“It’s like a fancy farmhouse. It isn’t grandiose. But it’s a great, friendly family environment,” said a source to People magazine.

The garage block has reportedly been transformed into quarters for police officers, to provide protection for the royal family, while the front lawn has been shortened to make more space for parking.

According to royal sources, Kate plans to use the rest of her “maternity leave” to focus on the renovations.

“She is going to spend a great deal of time there over the next few weeks with a view to being able to move in this summer,” revealed a royal source, as published in news.com.au.

“The family will spend most weekends there, although Kensington Palace will remain their primary residence,” the source added.

“The property is being decorated, ready for occupation,” said Simon Knight, owner of Knights Oriental Rugs in Henley-on-Thames, to PEOPLE.

“She wants to put her own influence on [Anmer] because she wants it to be her own family home,” added Knight.
