Ryan Murphy hints at wanting Meryl Streep on ‘American Horror Story’
“American Horror Story: Hotel” is turning out to be one of the best seasons in the franchise, locking in a lot of viewers in its pilot episode alone. The high ratings so far is no small thanks to Lady Gaga’s awesome portrayal as the sex-hungry vampire and the different Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett that fans get to see in it. But despite having such powerhouses actresses in his popular horror anthology series, Ryan Murphy still has one name under his wish list.
At the EW Fest panel with Ryan Murphy and the stars of his two shows, “American Horror Story: Hotel” and “Scream Queens,” the creator-producer was asked who else he’d want to bring into the “American Horror Story”. He simply answered, “Maybe Meryl [Streep].”
He then shares how his love of the actress started when he was in high school and when he formed a fan club with five of his friends.
“I was a president in high school, I’ve said this before, of a Meryl Streep fan club…. It was so sad. There were, like, five of us. We would go see ‘Sophie’s Choice,’ then go to Denny’s and break the film down,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
But even as Meryl Streep remains Murphy’s Moby Dick, he at least got to talk to her and tell her how much he admires her. He described the actress as very nice and added, “She’s another one who is just as great as you think she is.”
Murphy has already worked with some of the greatest actresses in this generation. Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, and Gwyneth Paltrow have all either starred or guested in at least one of his shows.
“American Horror Story: Hotel” currently airs on FX every Wednesday night. Murphy’s other show, “Scream Queens,” airs on Fox every Tuesday night.
