Jackson has been set to replace Jaime Foxx, who was earlier landed the role but exited due to scheduling conflicts. The film follows the misadventures of an unlikely partnership between a clever double-crossed mob hit man (Hart) and the notorious Black Phantom, a notorious hit man hired to kill Hart.

Jackson has achieved prominence and critical acclaim in the early 1990s with films such as “Jungle Fever,” “Patriot Games,” “Amos & Andrew,” “True Romance” and “Jurassic Park.” He has appeared in over 100 films such as “Pulp Fiction”; “Die Hard with a Vengeance”; “Jackie Brown”; “Unbreakable”; “Shaft”; “The 51st State”; “The Incredibles”; “Black Snake Moan”; “Snakes on a Plane”; the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy: “Episode I: The Phantom Menace,” “Episode II: Attack of the Clones” and Episode III: “Revenge of the Sith”; and his recurring role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a cameo in a post-credits scene from “Iron Man” and major roles in “Iron Man 2”; Marvel’s “The Avengers”;  and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” By October 2011, Jackson has surpassed voice actor Frank Welker as the actor with the highest grossing film total of all time and has received numerous accolades and awards.

Director Tim Story will helm the project, with the screenplay written by Dave Lease and Megan Hinds. Will Packer and Will Gluck will produce. It is a reunion for Jackson and Screen Gems’ Clint Culpepper, who’ve worked together in Lakeview Terrace, while it will be the first time for Jackson and Hart to work together. Jackson will be starring in Quentin Tarantino’s “Hateful Eight” in 2015.
