‘I Saw The Light:’ Reasons Why Tom Hiddleston Was The Best Choice To Play Hank Williams
The official Hank Williams biopic will be starring Tom Hiddleston in and as the 20th Century’s most influential singer-songwriter and musician. There’s not an ounce of doubt on Tom’s capability of pulling off the role of the famous musician, however, when someone asked director Marc Abraham as to why did he choose Tom Hiddleston to play the role of the legendary singer, he had the most simple and straightforward reply.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the reason was fairly simple. According to the director, Tom was the best actor he knew to play the part. Tom too made sure to not to break the director’s trust in him to portray the character and went out of the way to prepare for the role. It is being reported that Tom honed his singing and guitar playing skills with Grammy winner Rodney Crowell. He wanted to make sure that there are no flaws in his portrayal and hence, he decided to seek the Grammy winner’s help.
It is also being said that the actor also moved into Crowell’s house outside Nashville so that he could practice singing and playing guitar all day everyday. As they say hard work always pays off and it actually did. According to the director, Tom himself has done every line and every note. He also stated one more thing about Tom and that is the actor is crazy talented and if you happened to not like him, you will be jealous of him.
As far as imitating the legendary singer for the biopic was concerned, the director mentioned that they were aiming at getting the emotions right rather than getting the voice right. Despite being aware of the fact that no one can ever imitate Hank Williams, Tom’s performance in the movie will surely impress everyone. It is quite certain that it was Tom’s dedication and approach towards the role that further made the director more confident about casting him in the role. “I Saw the Light” will release on November 27th.
