The cast of “Shadowhunters,” series based on the best selling book “Mortal Instruments” by Cassandra Clay has finally been revealed. Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia has officially signed up to be part of the highly anticipated series.
Early last month, it was confirmed that Dominic Sherwood will be playing the role of Jace. Two actors, Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia, will be playing supporting character Simon and Isabelle, respectively. And recently it’s been announced that Katherine McNamara will be playing Clary Fay in the highly anticipated TV series.
In a press release, ABC Family said that Alberto Rosende will be playing Clary’s hilarious long time best friend, Simon. Simon is an accounting student by day and an aspiring musician by night. Simon was portrayed by Robert Sheehan in the 2013 film adaptation while Jemima West was cast as Isabelle.
“Mortal Instruments” author Cassandra Clare recently took to Twitter to comment on the casting announcements. When asked about fans what she felt about the actors who will be playing Jace, Simon and Isabelle, Clare said that she’s “really happy” with the showrunners’ decision.
“Shadowhunters” will begin filming its 13-episode season within the year, based on “The Mortal Instruments” book and film. This will be the first time that ABC will have the first ever “saga-to-series” approach. It has yet to be confirmed as to when the series will be released.
Meanwhile, although “Vampire Academy” alum Dominic Sherwood had already been commissioned to play Jace Wayland, the female lead, Clary, is yet to be cast.
