Movie adaptations to the young adult book trilogy by bestselling author Veronica Roth has been met with mixed responses, but one thing that is constant throughout the films is the noticeable chemistry between the two main characters, as the actors playing lovers-slash-refugees consistently offer a performance that is more than believable if not for the post-apocalyptic dystopia where the series was set.

Woodley, as Yibada reports, believes that this is due in part to the nature of the fictional couple: she stated that they are different than others because they do not constantly seek each other’s validation, even saying that, for her, it’s “sexier to see a couple that aren’t all over each other.”

Her co-star Theo James (who plays the part of Four) affirms this, saying that what he likes about Tris is that she was never sold as a damsel in distress, and yet somehow still manages to paint Four as the strong, masculine type who is capable of protecting her if ever the need arises.

James also expressed how he and co-star Shailene Woodley had experienced a sort of parallel over the course of the movie trilogy’s continued development and production, saying it was lucky that their real-life experiences mirrored naturally the kind of relationship Tris and Four has. Evidenced by recent reports by the Daily Mail, his sentiments reflected on how at first he worked with people he barely knew but then eventually trying to “feel each other out.” He appreciated the “excitement and nervousness” that come with it.

For those wanting to see for themselves how Tris and Four’s story plays out, “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” is expected to hit theatres on March 18, 2016.
