‘Sherlock’’s Irene Adler Joins Underworld Cast; Lara Pulver to Play Vampire?

‘Irene Adler’ may been an able adversary for Sherlock, but how will she do when vampires, werewolves and vampire-werewolves are out to get her? We are going to find out soon as “Sherlock” actress Lara Pulver joins the cast “Underworld 5” with Kate Beckinsale. Read on for more details.

Best known for her portrayed of the unexpectedly naked dominatrix in “Sherlock,” Deadline has just announced that Pulver will be joining the yet unnamed fifth “Underworld” film.

Pulver has also played an Venetian aristocrat in TV’s “Da Vinci Demons,” as well as a spy next  to Kit ‘Jon Snow’ Harrington in the British spy flick, “Spooks: The Greater Good.”

However, this will be the first time she will be appearing in a major Hollywood project. Pulver is currently acting onstage in the critically lauded revival of “Gypsy” at the Savoy Theatre in London, opposite Imelda Staunton.

As Movie News Guide has already reported, “Underworld 5” will be seeing the return of Beckinsale as the lethal ‘Selina.’ Theo James is also set to return in the movie, which is directed by Anna Foerster with a script penned by Cory Goodman.

Though the plot and other casting announcements are being kept under wraps, we can expect Pulver to play some sort of mythological creature, as almost every other character in the franchise is. The A.V. Club is suggesting a sort of ‘mummy-witch-King-Kong’ hybrid, but we suggest letting her play the rarest creature of them all, a normal person in the Underworld franchise.

“Underworld 5” is reportedly about a new generation of ‘lycans’ and vamps continuing the same was the previous four movies have seen, and no doubt Pulver can (metaphorically) inject some fresh blood into the franchise.

Filming will begin this year in Prague, where as the movie is set to release sometime in 2016.
