Silicon Valley Recap: Season 1 Episode 5 Signaling Risk [WATCH VIDEO]

“Silicon Valley ” is about a group of young programmers living together in Silicon Valley (hence, the name). They dream of making it big by starting their own company.   The first episode (“Minimum Viable Product”), premiered last April 6, 2014 on HBO. “Silicon Valley” Season 1 will consist of eight episodes but it’s never too late to catch up! It has been announced that HBO renewed the show for it’s second season! Read on for MNG’s “Silicon Valley ” recap of Season 1 Episode 5 “Signaling Risk.”

“Silicon Valley ” Season 1 Episode 5 “Signaling Risk” Recap:

“Silicon Valley ” stars Kumail Nanjiani, T.J. Miller, Martin Starr, Amanda Crew, Christopher Evan Welsh. It is created by Mike Judge with John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

Season 1 Episode 5 “Signaling Risk” started with Erlich (T.J. Miller) paying a graffiti artist/convicted felon $10,000 to create Pied Piper’s logo.  On the other hand, Zach Woods does his best to improve the company’s expertise. The show’s funny scene was when Erlich thought Dinesh would be offended after being mistaken for a Mexican.

According to, there was also a funny “office space moment” wherein Hooli CEO Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) pits against telecommunication devices.

Meanwhile, Gavin tries to talk to the big boss (Josh Brener) by holographic video conferencing through a faulty connection which is followed by a video chat that keeps flicking in and out until they end up using cellphones instead.  But, it still doesn’t work, sheesh!  Later on, Gavin found out about Pied Piper joining the TechCrunch  Disrupt.

In addition, Gavin also had a hilarious but weird moment with Peter Gregory (Christopher Evan Welch), whom we will surely miss since this will be his last episode. Welch died from lung cancer last Dec. 2013.

An Aztec warrior with Dinesh’s face doing the Statue of Liberty from behind is the logo that Chuy made for Pied Piper, and it was sprayed across the garage door of the house.

We get the drift that Chuy might be messin’ around with the gang throughout the episode.

Chuy, in defense of his work, tells Erlich “It comments on the whole Latino struggle for justice in America” but Erlich clarified that Dinesh is not Mexican so Chuy agrees to paint the whole thing all over again.  Erlich gave Chuy a thumbs up when he saw his new painting, the Statue of Liberty, is sporting his face this time. And, Dinesh in a Pakistani outfit does him up the butt. Wow!  All these for the price of $10,000.

As for Jared, he won Richard’s approval to implement the SCRUM management system. But, Dinesh and Gilfoyle are not so happy about it. Jared tries to convince them.

Monica, Peter Gregory’s assistant arrives at the house and tells Richard once more that she has a lot of faith in him and his work that she invested 10% of her yearly income in Pied Piper.  This could be the start of something good!
