‘Sister Wives’ Recap: Just Another Normal Family

Sister Wives” Season 6 Episode 6 aired last Feb. 15, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on TLC. The episode kicks off with the continuation of Garrison and Gabriel’s conflict from the parking lot. Read on to know Kody and Janelle’s strategy to know the truth.

Since one of the boys is not ready to tell the truth, Kody called his other sons. Christine’s son Paedon claims that Gabriel had hit Garrison. In the previous episode, Gabriel completely denied that he got physical. Janelle is stunned to hear that Gabriel managed to lie. Kody made Garrison promise to never fight with any of his brothers again. Garrison agreed with his parents before he was dismissed.

Kody told Gabriel that he is aware that Garrison can be a bully. However, he does not believe in fighting back. Janelle asked Gabriel if he was just scared to speak the truth. Gabriel immediately got teary-eyed. Kody ask3e him what he is afraid about because he was never spanked before. Gabriel just shrugs. He is grounded. Kody dismisses him.

Meri slowly believes that the students will start to believe that they are just a normal family. Other wives laugh.

The students went to Christine’s house to talk to her mother, Annie. Annie confided to them that switching to a different religion is very difficult. She said she was so used to polygamy that it was an everyday struggle. She cried thinking of her past conflict with Christine just because of their different religious beliefs.

The first wife, Meri, is invited to have a special talk with the students. She denies hating Janelle. But she admitted that they really have buried conflicts and are not really close with each other. She concluded that she will never be close to the second wife.

The next serious talk is with the last wife, Robyn. Antoinette told her that she has observed Kody is not having enough time with the older children. Robyn explained that some kids just do not want sweet gestures like kissing, hugging and cuddling. She says that the younger kids obviously want the attention.

The students proceed to talk with the first daughter, Mariah, and her parents. Mariah is very open-minded with polygamy. She does not even care if she will be the first or last wife. Kody insisted that knowing the man and his wife, if there is any, is very essential so her daughter will not be entering a mistake. He demanded a long courtship if ever.

Christine suddenly reacted when she heard Kody’s statement about Mariah. Kody believed that a longer courtship leads to a better marriage. Christine is offended because Kody courted her in just a short amount of time. Robyn defended Kody that he was just referring to his kids.

Kody, his four wives, and the students went out for lunch. Richard commended the parents for trusting their children so much regarding their decisions in life. Then he dropped the bomb by asking if they will agree to same-sex marriage. Robyn said yes without any hesitation because that is how much they love their children. Kody agrees but emphasizes not having sex before marriage. After saying that they have realized a lot of things in a good way, the students finally thank the Browns for accepting their visit.

Janelle admits that being a polygamous person is not easy, especially if she is the first wife. She understands Meri’s sentiments because she believes that first wives are territorial. She told Antoinette that she is thinking of bringing Meri to a counselor, but she does not know how to approach her. She partly blames herself for her conflict with Meri because she remembers “shutting her down.” Antoinette asked her when she will be ready. Janelle has no idea.

It is time for the students to give their report to the anthropology professor. Antoinette told the professor that her expectations were far from reality. She is pleased to see the kids so healthy and happy. She thinks the Browns have a supportive family environment. She shared that Kody is pretty balanced when it comes to spending time with his wives. She shakes her head as she says that they cannot point out who is the favorite wife.

The professor asks his students if they are open for polygamy. Richard said no because it is definitely a lot of work. Surprisingly, Antoinette wanted to be a sister wife because she wants her future kids to grow in a supportive environment. However, being with Kody, she does not think that he is looking for a fifth wife because he is not collecting wives. Richard jokes that she is going to be a great fifth wife.

The other half of the episode focuses on flashbacks since 2010.
