The online word has given people the avenue to stay connected amidst the busy hassles that envelop life as we know it. There’s Facebook and then there’s Skype that brings the person closer to you via video chat, and it’s akin to talking to them in person. However, what happens when these tools for advanced connection turns into tools for revenge and vindication? “Unfriended” shows everybody how and why and it’s Spooktacular interesting.
According to Screen Rant, “Unfriended” is the supernatural, horrifying version result of excessive cyberbullying. The story follows a year later after Laura Barn’s (Heather Sossaman) suicide that was caused by a scandal video that ruined her reputation for life. She ended up shooting herself, and now, it appears as though she is back for retribution. The act of revenge occurs during a video call session of her high school schoolmates when a seventh caller with the username billie227 joins in. The torment then begins as Laura’s accounts were brought back to life as this unknown user attempts to unravel who among them uploaded Laura’s wretched scandal into the web for everyone to see.
The movie is genius with the first-hand scare feels that the original “Paranormal Activity” brought out to the big screen. “Unfriended” features the acting of Shelley Hennig, Jacob Wysocki, Will Peltz and Renee Olstead. It is based on the writing by Nelson Greaves and helmed by Levan Gabriadze. It is slated for theater premiere on April 17, 2015.
