Episode 3 opens up to a Henry Parish, who’s carving up a miniature model of Sleepy Hollow’s Tarrytown Psychiatric Hospital.
Ichabod and Abby go to the asylum where Irving is held, only to find out that they have been barred to visit Irving on the accounts of Irving’s lawyer Henry Parish, the Horseman of War.
Back in Westchester County Police Department, Jenny has gotten out of prison thanks to her sister Abbie. Her sister is the one who has arranged for a judge for Jenny to spend the rest of her sentence doing community service.
Abbie and Ichabod pursue the whereabouts of Henry inside the bank. Ichabod then revealed that she knows about homosexuality and that he has watched the finale of “Glee.” But as they start following Henry, Abbie and Ichabod heard a gunshot fired within the bank. Since Ichabod was told by the new sheriff to stay out of police business, Abbie goes to the crime scene alone and called for backup. Abbie tries to calm down the distraught assailant, convincing her to put her gun down, only to be shot down by Sheriff Reyes. As the assailant goes down, she drops a mysterious coin, but no else seemed to notice this until one of the hostages picks it up and walks away from the scene.
Abbie is confused why someone she knows who was really gentle, loved her job and loyal to her employees would suddenly turn violent. She then got into conclusion that Henry has something to do with the event. At the Archives, the duo discovers the source of the chaos that ensued earlier. It is a cursed Revolutionary coin that has the ability to unveil a person’s dark side. Ichabod relates this to a similar event in his past, revealing that Benedict Arnold was a truly loyal soldier until the cursed coins came into his possession, causing him to turn against the colonists.
Jenny joins up the gang in the archives, logging in Abbie’s account to break into Sherriff Reyes’ files. Jenny is not happy to learn that Abbie did not tell her about Reyes knowing their mother. Jenny also learned that Abby put their mother in the psych ward. Jenny walks out when Abbie took Reyes’ side that “it was only her job.”
In the riverside, Ichabod and Abbie meet up with a fellow named Hawley, a man who deals business with artifacts and supernatural items. Ichabod does not seem very fond of the cheapskate Hawley, who have identified the item they were searching for was a Tyrian shekel. Ichabod recognizes this as one of the 30 silver coins Judas Iscariot was supposedly paid for betraying Jesus.
Meanwhile, a nearby flower shop blows up by a home-made bomb made by the Florist’s son. The man was the one who picked up the cursed coin earlier. After the man who has the coin is imprisoned for killing his father, the coin is taken into police custody where Henry switches the coin with a quarter.
Henry gives the coin to an unsuspecting Jenny, who is now urged to kill the new sheriff believing she is the reason for her mother’s death.
Abbie and Ichabod meet up with Hawley who has arranged a meeting. He reveals to them that Jenny had stolen a high powered rifle from him. Ichabod and Hawley then set out to steal a blessed stained glass from the church. It is the item that has the ability to hold out the coin’s influences. Abbie manages to track down Jenny’s location at a hunting range where Sherriff Reyes is hunting. Abbie and Ichabod, with the help of their new ally Nick Hawley, are able to talk Jenny down and imprison the coin in a glass.
Back at the Psych Ward, Ichabod was able to talk to Irving about his new attorney Henry and the man’s secret identity. Ichabod tells Irving that the psych ward is the safest place for him to be, if the Horseman of War wants him out, the safest place is to be in.
Back at the station Reyes hands out Abbie’s mother’s files to Abbie, to which she discovers that her mother was tormented by demons, and everything she did was to protect her daughters. Hawley meets up with Abbie and Ichabod at the bar, revealing that he has decided not to sell the coin, opting to first complete the set. He then gives a disappointed Crane a falsified I.D. Ichabod is not happy owing Hawley a debt but Abbie feels otherwise, “Trust is the only currency with value” Ichabod ends.
At the end of the episode, Henry burns the bed where Katrina gave birth to him in rage.
