‘Slipknot’ Guitarist Mick Thomson Injured in Drunken Knife Fight with Brother
According to Billboard, the guitarist of the metal band ‘Slipknot’ Mickael ‘Mick’ Thomson and his brother Andrew were rushed to the hospital. It was after what appears to be a knife fight between them right in their own front yard. Read on to learn more about it.
According to a news release by the Clive Police Department, at around 4:25am on Wednesday morning, March 11, two brothers were fighting in the front yard of the house of one of them, located at 1900 block of Northwest 129th Street. When the police arrived in response to a call, the two had already sustained some serious stab wounds. They were then sent to the local hospital in separate ambulances.
The brothers were later confirmed to be Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson and his brother Andrew. Apparently, the fight started inside Mick’s house but they decided to finish it outside, this time carrying knives. Police reports say the brothers were actually drunk when this happened.
Though they were severely injured, Billboard also reported that Mick receiving a “stab wound in the back of his head, none of the brothers’ injuries were life-threatening.”
According to NY Daily News. Clive Police Chief Michael Venema said that none of them are cooperative with the investigation just yet.
“Our detectives will be following up as soon as their medical situation allows us,” Venema added. No charges have also been filed as of now.
Police were initially unsure of it was Slipknot’s Mick who was involved in the fight. ‘Slipknot’ frontman Corey Taylor tweeted fans that he will give updates on the news. The band’s manager later confirmed in KCCI News that it really was their band’s Mick Thomson. In Taylor’s latest tweet, he said, “Mick Update: from what I’ve heard he’s okay. We’re [sending] him all your thoughts. Thank you for that.”
Despite Mick being injured, the band’s manager said this incident will not impact the band’s schedule. ‘Slipknot’ is currently in a break after a series of international performances. They will resume performances on July 24, 2015 in a major headlining tour, ‘Summer’s Last Stand’, in West Palm Beach, Florida. On Apr. 25, 2015, they will have their tour for their latest album, “.5: The Gray Chapter” in Fort Meyers.
