Somin of ‘April’ Quits Young Kpop Group; Will Join Their Big Sisters In KARA?
It has been reported that April leader Somin will be leaving the K-Pop group. Their label DSP Media made it public with a statement issued last November 9, as reported by All KPop. Read On!
“April has been reconfigured into a 5-member group. Starting today, Somin will be leaving the group for a new start. Somin has been thinking deeply about her future lately. She talked about this with us, and we talked for a while. After much consideration, Somin will be leaving the group, but DSP Media will be continuously supporting Somin as our label artist,” DSP Media stated.
However, there has been rumors made by fans suggesting that the 19-year-old singer left her idol group to finally be a part of DSP’s most sought after act KARA. Especially, that the “Fantastic Girls” artists are now in the verge of having some of their member’s contracts ending, KpopStarz reports.
It has also been reported that Somin did try out to gain a spot as KARA’s latest member during the group’s own reality TV show “KARA Project.” Her undertaking though happened before April made their public debut.
The Korean reality television show was noted for the suicide of Kara Project participant Ahn Sojin who allegedly took her life one month after DSP ended their ties with her. Most fans come into an agreement that there is a strong resemblance between Somin and the “Invincible Youth” singer of Kara, Goo Hara.
Somin’s latest collaboration with April was the “special choreography video” for “Dream Candy.” Before she closed her musical chapter with the group, she made a handwritten letter dedicated to her fans which was posted in the group’s official website, Kpopstarz reports.
