‘Sons of Anarchy’ Prequel Update: Will The Project Live or Die?

The highly popular FX series “Sons of Anarchy”, which ran for seven seasons all the way until December of 2014, may have closed one chapter of its story, but fans shouldn’t fear, as series creator Kurt Sutter revealed that a prequel is in the works. Is the ‘SOA’ prequel still happening? Read on for more details.

The “Sons of Anarchy” prequel may possibly see the return of Charlie Hunnam (Jackson “Jax” Teller) and the addition of Brad Pitt to play the role of Jax’s father John.

Although it has been sometime since the announcement, both Kurt Sutter and Charlie Hunnam revealed that there is still a huge possibility that the stories the franchise still has to tell, will come true, in one form of media or another.

According to Empire News, just shy of a week after “Sons of Anarchy” ended in December of 2014, series creator Kurt Sutter announced that a prequel to the seven season hit FX series was in the works. According to Sutter, the film will resurrect Charlie Hunnam’s character, Jackson “Jax” Teller, who had died during the series finale, and will focus on Jax’s father, John Teller, who, according to a previous report, might just be played by actor Brad Pitt. Sutter also hoped that the prequel would begin filming later this year.

According to an interview that Men’s Journal had with Hunnam, the actor stated that Sutter is still trying to get the prequel on its way, thus reviving hopes that there will be a “Sons of Anarchy” prequel in development soon.

However, according to an interview that IGN had with Sutter, the creator stated that he hasn’t lost hope in reviving the franchise, but stated that it wouldn’t happen, in any media form, any time soon.

Sutter told IGN that he still wants to keep the franchise going, either in another television show, a film, or in comic book form, but not anytime soon. Aside from Sutter having a new series, Hunnam also currently has other projects under his belt such as films like “Crimson Peak” and “Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur”.
