‘Spider-Man’ Reboot: Why the New Villain Might Not Be the Best Choice

This is another attempt at rebooting everyone’s favorite web slinger’s story. After Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, it is Tom Holland’s time to shine in as the Spider-Man. The said reboot is slated to release in 2017 and one of the most important updates on the movie has been revealed.

According to Cinema Blend, Kevin Feige has gone on record and stated that they won’t be using any of the previous super villains that have already featured in the previous adaptations. That being said, it restricts Marvel Studios choices in casting a villain and perhaps that is the reason why Kraven, the Hunter’s name came into the picture. If reports are to be believed then Kraven, the Hunter is being considered to portray the main antagonist’s role. For all those who are not aware, Kraven, the Hunter wishes to kill Spider-Man and become the best hunter in the world. Compared to other hunters, he usually uses bare hands to fight dangerous animals. Since he consumed a mysterious serum, he attained superhuman strengths and slowed down his ageing process. The rumors of him being cast as the main villain comes from the fact that Karen Moy, VP Creative Affairs at Sony bought a copy of “Kraven’s Last Hunt”. If the said rumors are true then this might not be the best choice for a villain. Here’s why.

Firstly, Kraven wants to track and capture Spider-Man and become the best hunter there is. In the actual storyline Kraven wanted to capture Spider-Man because he was one of the best and most popular superheroes. In this reboot, Tom Holland is going to play a high school going Spider-Man, which means he will be in his establishing state yet. What good will it do for Kraven to capture the web slinger who is establishing himself as a worthy hero? Secondly, the book that VP Karen Moy bought, it describes the long relationship between Kraven and Spider-Man as the Hunter and the one who’s hunted respectively. With Spidey just starting out, how exactly will the makers show this really long equation the web slinger has with the hunter?

Whatever the case be, one thing is for sure that Karen Moy buying a Kraven book does not declare him as the villain of the movie, but if he really is the choice, then it would be better if Marvel Studios mull over their choice.
