Spider-Man to Appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’; ‘Sinister Six’ Delayed
Following late Monday night’s announcement on Sony and Marvel bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), new report confirms that the web head will be making its way into “Captain America 3: Civil War.” Read on for more details on this story.
As announced on Monday late night, Sony and Marvel will be teaming up for the future of “Spider-Man” films. The struck deal will bring New York’s friendly neighbor into MCU before breaking off onto its own Sony-produced new franchise by 2017. Many details regarding the deal were quite left out, but now Wall Street Journal reports that Spider-Man will be making an appearance in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War.”
“The two companies said late Monday that Spider-Man will appear in an upcoming Disney-produced Marvel super-heroes movie; that movie is 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” according to a person with knowledge of the matter,” as published on ComicBook.com.
In “Civil War,” after the aftermath of the battle between the New Warriors and Nitro resulting into the deaths of 600 civilians, 60 of whom were children, the government has issued the Superhero Registration Act, a legislative bill that will require mandatory registration of all superheroes, which will reveal their secret identities to the U.S. government.
This act divides the superhero community down in the middle, with good-intentioned superheroes finding themselves fighting against each other upon conflicting sides — those who fully support the Superhero Registration Act, the Pro-Registration, led by Iron Man; and those who are opposed against the Registration Act, the Anti-Registration, who rally under the banner of Captain America.
In the “Civil War” arc, Peter Parker joins Iron Man’s cause, revealing his Identity to the public. However, as a result, his life was ruined as he is fired from his job, his old friends turn their backs on him and his loved ones become targeted by his enemies since they now know Spider-Man’s secret identity. Parker eventually discovers how the rogue heroes are mistreated, realizing that he has sided with the wrong team, eventually joining Captain America’s Secret Avengers.
Moreover, with Spider-Man entering MCU, Sony has announced that it will delay its “Sinister Six” release, rescheduling it for November 2016 release.
