Stan Lee Picks His ‘Civil War’ Team, Explains Exactly Why

Captain America and Ironman are going to be duking it out in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War,” but only one of them has ‘god’ on his side. Stan ‘the Man’ Lee, writer, founder and deity-in-charge of the Marvel universe has just picked his side in “Civil War.” Read on to find out who it is.

At the recent Edmonton Comic Expo, Lee picked his Civil War side when asked by a fan, and looks like he is Team Cap.

“Whatever side Captain America was on, because he’s the best, pure-hearted person in the whole world,” Lee, answered the young fan who asked,  “By the way, he’s a great actor, too, the guy who plays Captain America does a beautiful job – Chris Evans. I say that because he likes me, and anyone who likes me is a great actor.”

Lee will obviously be appearing in one of his trademark cameos in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War.” However, it is not known whether he will be rooting for team Cap while in movie (via Comic Book Resources). Apart from Lee’s implicit support Captain America also has the strengths of Falcon, Hawkeye, the Scarlet Witch, Black Widow and The Winter Soldier. In the other corner is Iron-Man’s team, which is likely to contain War Machine, Vision, Ant-Man and Spider-Man.

Even with Lee’s support, can Captain prevail? We will have to wait until May 6, 2016, when “Civil War” hits the screens.

The 92-year-old legend also said during his interview that his eyesight does not allow him to read comics any longer, but he does like to look at the covers.

“I look at the covers, and I try to guess what’s going on. All I know is, the girls look beautiful on the covers – I sometimes think I’m reading Playboy and I’m not objecting to that one bit!”

Of course Stan ‘the Man’ might be too geriatric and too invested to care about the over-sexualization of female superheroes in comic book covers, and cause countered admirably over at The Hawkeye Initiative, who put Hawkeye in the same ‘beautiful’ and sexualized positions that Lee refers to.
