‘Star Wars’ News: Actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw To Join The Cast?
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is the latest release from the “Star Wars” franchise. The next in the line are “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “Star Wars: Episode VIII.”
It has been learned that Disney and Lucasfilm are eyeing on “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” next year. Screen Rant reports that the film would explore that galaxy like never before and which the Skywalker family could not even think about.
After this film, next to come is “Star Wars: Episode VIII.” This movie is said to pick up from where “The Force Awakens” left. The production work of the movie is in the process. If reports are to be believed, the principal photography of the movie would start as soon as in early 2016.
The speculations are high that the official announcement could be made any time in near future. It is very understood that if there is a delay in the announcement, it’s because the makers would want the current “Star Wars” movie to stay in the limelight. Talking about the sequel at this time would mean snatching the attention from the latest movie to be released.
But still this had not discouraged rumors about the possible cast of “Star Wars” 8 to spread. The grapevine had been that 32-year-old Gugu Mbatha-Raw would star in the film.
Everyone assumed that Mbatha-Raw would join the film when rumors spread that the movie makers were looking for actresses for 2 main roles though no official announcement was made. But recently, The Wrap has stated that Mbatha-Raw is “widely expected” to become part of “Episode VIII.” So, fans you can keep your fingers crossed this time!
The outlet also reported that the movie would have 42-year-old Rian Johnson, who would handle both direction and writing related work. For the role of a negative character in the movie, the 48-year-old Benicio Del Toro is the most sought after actor. The 64-year-old Mark Hamill might also make a comeback in the movie. There would also be more female character roles in the movie. The new movie would also offer work to more women behind the camera.
