Rogue One Trailer, Update: Lucasfilm Reveals Why Rogue Two Not Happening [Watch]
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the epic space opera film directed by Gareth Edwards is yet to release. But the box office experts have already estimated its opening weekend. It is estimate to lie approximately in the range of $120-$150 million. However, no success parameters can assure a sequel at the moment.
Rogue One Sequel Possibilities
Fans assumed that Disney and Lucasfilm perhaps would continue doing business together and expand the franchise. It is a standalone project with a bunch of new host of heroes, planets and creatures. However, the idea does not seem interesting to the makers who discard the whole concept of sequel.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy mentioned in one of his recent statements that there is no idea of making a Rogue One sequel aka Rogue Two. In addition to this, Visual effects legend John Knoll also supported the fact and mentioned that it is a self contained film, reports Slash Film.
All About Film and Box Office Projections
It features the story of Rebel Alliance recruits Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) who works with a group including Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). Therefore, they work together to steal the design schematics of the Empire’s new superweapon, the Death Star.
The film is set in Star Wars Universe between the period of Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and events of original Star Wars. It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk in major roles.
However, Disney chairman Bob Iger mentioned that they do not expect the upcoming film to compete with the total of The Force Awakens.
