‘Stay’ Pilot Gets Greenlight From ABC Family
It looks like ABC Family is mixing things up with regards to its programming as it now not only does the channel have a procedural in its line-up, in the form of “Stitchers,” but now also has a mystery thriller on its hands. It has announced that ABC Family has just given a green light to a brand new series, a thriller entitled “Stay.” Read on to learn more about ABC Family’s latest offering.
According to Variety, the network greenlit the pilot for the original thriller series entitled “Stay” last Thursday. This is a welcome addition to the cabler, which has been mixing things up in its programming, as it also now has a procedural in “Stitchers”, which premiered last June 2, 2015, in its roster.
“Stay,” according the article, is a one-hour drama project which will be written and executive produced by the show’s creator, Spenser Cohen. Along with Cohen for the ride on “Stay” are Anna Halberg, and Jon Turtletaub (“National Treasure”), who will also direct the pilot episode.
According to an exclusive report regarding the new scripted thriller, Deadline reported that the project is being described as an “edge-of-your-seat thriller.”
“Stay” will be about a recently widowed police detective and his two daughters who end up getting stranded at a creepy hotel. The myriad of mysteries they have to solve so that they can escape from the creepiest and most thrilling hotel stay of their lives.
According to Karey Burke, the EVP of Programming and Development of ABC Family, the thriller is a very emotional story. It is about a family that learns how to bounce back and who learns how to stand together as one due to unexpected and strange circumstances. It was especially as the family is “fractured” to begin with due to recent events.
