Stitchers Recap: Connections
“Stitchers” Season 1 Episode 3 “Connections” aired on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on ABC Family. In this episode, after a stitch in a murdered newlywed wife left Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta) vulnerable to the victim’s emotions, which led Cameron Goodkin (Kyle Harris) to worry that she might be following the same dangerous path that her predecessor did, Kirsten stubbornly tried to prove the victim’s husband’s innocence. Meanwhile, Camille Engleson (Allison Scagliotti) and Linus (Ritesh Rajan) get closer to each other, and a surprising connection between Kirsten’s foster father and her current boss were revealed. Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta) and Cameron Goodkin (Kyle Harris) being held at gunpoint by a robber (Carlos Acuna), who told them to remove their jewelry. Kirsten then asked him if he had killed their latest victim and if the concierge named Michelle was his wife.
The scene then flashed back to forty-eight hours earlier at Kirsten and Camille Engelson’s (Allison Scagliotti) house. They unpacked some of Ed Clark’s (Hugo Armstrong) belongings, which now belonged to Kirsten. Much to Camille’s delight, they found a classic “tube amp stereo system,” and a torn picture of Ed and Kirsten’s mother, which had the word “Remember” written on the back. However, Maggie Baptiste (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), after being asked about it by Kirsten, merely told her that Ed, her mother, and her father were just friends and colleagues. Kirsten, who didn’t believe her then confronted Cameron and together with Camille, got offended by Cameron and Linus (Ritesh Rajan). It was after discovering that they didn’t think that they were capable of setting up the stereo by themselves.
Afterwards, Kirsten entered the fragmented memories of newlywed Lily Ross (Hina Abdullah), a tourist who had gotten robbed at the Santa Monica Pier while on a honeymoon with her husband, Scott Ross (Michael Grant Terry), and who had died of blunt force trauma to the head. She then saw that she had been abducted after Scott left for a while to call someone up under the pretense that he had left his phone at the restaurant. She then saw that Lilly had confronted Scott regarding some cash in a safe and that Scott had gotten angry. However, she felt that Scott was innocent.
Later that night, as the Camille and Kirsten began setting up the stereo, Camille asked her about Linus, and the two discovered a tape that Ed had made labeled “For When I’m Gone.”
The next morning, after questioning Scott, and after Detective Quincy Fisher (Damon Dayoub) stepped out of the interrogation room for a bit, Kirsten, much to Cameron’s chagrin, decided to talk to Scott. There she discovered that the cash was used to surprise Lilly with a necklace and that Lilly had also taken out a life insurance policy on Scott.
Afterwards, Cameron told her that he was becoming worried that Kirsten was starting to have difficulty separating her own emotions from the sample’s residual emotions. It was revealed to be the reason why Marta Rodriguez (Tiffany Hines) had slipped into a coma.
Kirsten then confirmed Scott’s story during another stitch and managed to get a glimpse of the driver of the couple’s car rental service. However, they discovered that the driver had a solid alibi.
Meanwhile, Camille and Linus, whom she had invited over along with Cameron to help out with the stereo, managed to start up the stereo, and ended up sleeping with each other.
At the hotel, Kirsten learned that the concierge, Michelle, had set up the car service ride for them. She learned that he had slipped away from Lilly in order to order a bottle of champagne for their room that night.
After discovering that Cameron had followed her, they decided to pose as bait by buying expensive jewelry to wear. After getting dropped off at the pier by the car service driver, they were brought aside at gunpoint by a man (Carlos Acuna), who made them remove their jewelry. Cameron then hit him with a bucket after the thief became distracted as the carousel behind them started. Detective Fisher and the police then arrived just in time, and Scott apologized for throwing Kirsten out of the hotel room.
Back at home, Kirsten and Cameron realized that something had happened between Linus and Camille. Before he left, Cameron congratulated Kirsten, who later, decided to play the tape that Ed had made for her. It turned out that as a little girl, she had thrown it away after he gave it to her before he left for a work related trip. On it were three bedtime stories, and the first one that he read out loud was about Sleeping Beauty.
As the tape played, it was revealed that Maggie had been the person torn out of Kirsten’s picture of Ed and her mother, and in her hospital room, Marta woke up.
