‘Taken 3′ Gun Supplier Responds on Liam Neeson’s Comments on Gun Usage in US
In light of Liam Neeson’s comments on America’s wide distribution of arms and weapons, the gun supplier of his latest movie “Taken 3” took to action and publicly announced their regrets in letting Neeson use their guns and will no longer supply weapons for his future movies.
During the promotion of “Taken 3” in Dubai on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, Neeson was asked to comment on the idea of gun control, in reference to the recent Charlie Hebdo killings and police brutality in the US. After sharing his feelings for the incident in Paris, Neeson answered that he very much supports gun control, regardless of his using guns on his recent action movies.
“There’s too many f—king guns out there. Especially in America. I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a f—king disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools,” Neeson explained, as published on Huffington Post.
His reply was obviously in contrast to his gun-wielding character, but Neeson added that his role as Bryan Mills is merely a fantasy conjured by a movie that gives people a sense of action in their lives. His character never had any intention to make people spring up and buy a gun to wield for themselves.
However, upon hearing of Neeson’s comment, PARA USA, the gun supplier for “Taken 3” released a statement on their Facebook page, saying that they regret supplying the guns for Neeson’s movie. In addition to this, they announced that they will no longer provide guns for any film casting Neeson and are encouraging their partners in the industry to do the same.
As of the moment, representatives of Neeson have not yet released any statements regarding the said issue.
