‘Talented Mr Ripley’ Being Turned into a TV Series

Great news for “The Talented Mr Ripley” fans. Jude Law and Matt Damon-starrer film is all set to turn into a television series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the publisher of the five-book series, Diogenes and Endemol Shine from the Television 360 are teaming up to turn Highsmith’s series of novels into a television series.

“The Talented Mr Ripley” is a five-series psychological novel first published in 1955 that follows a charming psychopath Tom Ripley pulling off schemes around the globe. The second book in the series was published after almost two decades, “Ripley Underground,” that followed “Ripley’s Game,” “The Boy Who Followed Ripley,” and “Ripley Under Water.”

It won’t be the first time that someone will try to turn pages into visuals, in 1960 a French version of the novel titled “Purple Noon” was released with legendary actor Alain Delon playing the lead role of Ripley and in 1999 director Anthony Minghella gave the world “The Talented Mr Ripley” starring Matt Damon as the famous conman and Gwyneth Paltrow playing his victim.

The star of “Game of Thrones” Guymon Casady and “Good People” star Benjamin Forkner of Television 360 are the executive producers of the show and they are still looking for a strong writer to pen the character for the television show.

According to the reports, the television series of “The Talented Mr Ripley” will take its base from the first Highsmith’s novel and once the show will take its speed, the production team will ten explore the depth, sophistication and complexity of the character of Tom Ripley.

After the successful run of Matt Damon’s “The Talented Mr Ripley,” the television show would offer even room to play with the situations that lead to Tom Ripley getting caught or killed. It all seems a good plan but it will all depend on the casting and the script of the show.
