‘The Big Bang Theory’ Is Getting a Lego Treatment [WATCH VIDEO]

CBS’ most successful comedy series of the current season, “The Big Bang Theory,” is finally getting a Lego treatment. The release of the mini-figures patterned from the long-running show was announced by the toy company last Friday, Nov. 9, 2014. Read on for the details.

Back in January, Lego set up a website for its followers to suggest ideas for the next toy collection that will be made into its famous Lego pieces via its Lego Ideas Programme. A pair who went by the name of Alatariel and GlenBricker proposed “The Big Bang Theory,” which earned at least 10,000 votes from Lego enthusiasts. The voting happened between January until June of this year.

Alatariel and GlenBricker submitted their suggestion with the following details:

This LEGO set proposal is based on the popular American sitcom The Big Bang Theory created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. The set represents the living room of Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, which is the core location of the series. It's filled with geeky details accurate to the show including Sheldon's board, Green Lantern lantern, Rubik's cube tissue box, DNA model, mini LEGO Death Star and more!

It will feature the Lego scale models of Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco).

In a video announcing the set, Peter Esperson of Lego Ideas said that the concept was "a true match made in scientific heaven because the brilliant characters in this popular American TV series appreciate Lego bricks." You can watch the video below.

Apart from “The Big Bang Theory” proposal, Lego also had to consider ssuggestions like a flying train from “Back to the Future,” a model set inspired by the British science fiction series “Doctor Who” and a Lego scale of an Apple Store.

“The Big Bang Theory” Lego set will join the likes of “The Simpsons,” “Harry Potter,” and “Star Wars,” which have been immortalized as toys by the famous toy company.

Lego Ideas noted that the final design and other details, such as the prices  and release date will be announced at a later date. As a fan of the show, are you looking forward to this Lega treatment and will you be getting one? Let's talk about it in the comments!
