The Croods 2” will not be out in theatres sooner than what most fans expect, but the crazy Croods family will be joined by Leslie Mann and Kat Dennings as additional cast members. The DreamWorks Animation’s movie is by far one of the network’s unexpected hits. The animated film raked in a total of $587.2 million earnings in local and foreign releases. It isn’t such a wonder that the company has decided to create a sequel to the story about the prehistoric family.

According to Realty Today, “The Croods 2” will continue to focus on the Croods family. They set foot in “a dangerous, strange new world” equipped with their “old shenanigans,” described IMDB. The Croods family is also set to meet a new rival family in the sequel.

While most details about “The Croods 2” are still unknown, former cast members of the first installment of the franchise are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel. Emma Stone will be doing voice work for Eep while Ryan Reynolds will be back as Guy. Nicolas Cage will also be reprising his role as Grug.

Meanwhile, The Croods has found new cast members in comedy actresses Leslie Mann and Kat Dennings. According to Rotoscopers, Mann, who once voiced for animated films such as “Rio” and “Mr. Peabody & Sherman,” will be doing voice work for the rival family’s matriarch. Dennings, on the other hand, will play the daughter of the rival family, who was forced to suppress her natural instinct to hunt. Dennings has previously done voice work for “American Dad.”

“The Croods 2” will be released on Dec. 22, 2017. Stay tuned on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates on your favorite TV shows, celebrities, and movies.
