The CW in Talks of Having Another ‘Arrow’ Spin-off for the ATOM
The CW definitely owns up the television scene with their recently started shared DC Television universe between “Arrow” and “The Flash.” Now their creative team is thinking about cooking up another spin-off for Brandon Routh’s ATOM. Read on to know more about the details of this scoop.
If Marvel has their Cinematic Universe to thrive on to for their success, The CW is set on strengthening their network with the creation of their DC Television Universe started off by “Arrow,” which later created the expansion — “The Flash.” The network is actually going on a successive roll since they’ve recently announced during the Television Critics Association (TCA) that shows like “Supernatural,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” are being renewed for new seasons for 2015. In addition to that, they are actually considering on creating another spin-off for the “Arrow” series, and it will be about Brandon Roth’s character Ray Palmer taking on ATOM.
According to Comic Book Movie, “Arrow’s” executive producer Marc Gugenheim shared with Nerdist that the network is contemplating on creating a spin-off for ATOM. As it would seem, they are cooking up plots that would turn Brandon Routh’s character into a standalone one without his absence affecting the main narrative.
“The thing that we’ve been talking about is just how do we further expand the universe; and we love Brandon and we love having him on Arrow,” he said vaguely.
The thing that the creators are heavily debating on right now is how essential Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) in turning out to be in the “Arrow” compared to Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin).
“Brandon’s so terrific and embodies the role so well that when we talk about how to further expand things, he’s a natural person to talk about… With the exception of Grant Gustin on Arrow last year, there’s never been a [decision] to bring in a character with the intention to spin them off. It’s always, ‘What services the show the best?” the executive producing officer explained.
Apart from the creators weighing in on the creation of the spin-off for the ATOM, they are also busy in the actualization of the armored suit — the suit that the executive producer claims to be “the most ambitious costume they’ve ever done on the show.” They clearly thought it through as they didn’t want the suit to appear similar to that of Marvel’s Iron Man. As a result, the creators aimed to add more practical elements on the ATOM costume as opposed to the CGI that they’ve done on Iron Man and that’s based on the Screen Rant in-depth feature of the suit.
Speculations are suggesting that the furtherance of ATOM’s role in “Arrow” is akin to an audition tape, and here is where they are greatly misled. The creators highlighted that the creation of such influential characters is for the purpose of enhancing the “Arrow” storyline and not as an indirect suggestion for the creation of another superhero medium. But if it really picks up, then that’s a whole new story.
That concludes our update regarding the prospective “ATOM” spin-off. Keep on visiting Movie News Guide (MNG) for more entertainment updates.
