‘The Equalizer 2’ set for a 2017 release; Denzel Washington Reprises Role
Denzel Washington is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood and his illustrious career and Academy Award wins can definitely vouch for that. The actor who is known to have not done a sequel yet might just have changed that. Reports are coming in that the actor will be a part of “The Equalizer 2” sequel to 2014 action thriller “The Equalizer.”
According to Screen Rant, Denzel Washington will be part of “The Equalizer 2.” He will be reprising the role of Robert McCall, a retired black ops agent for the CIA who had promised his wife to never go back to his old life. He is pulled back into it when he sees the people close to him landing in trouble and one of them happens to be a young prostitute who is stuck amongst the Russian mafia. McCall meets her at a diner where he befriends her. Without talking much or letting anyone know, he acts as their silent knight.
“The Equalizer” is based on the television series of the same name and will see the character kicking some serious butt just like in the first one.
Screen Crush reported that Sony has decided the release date to be September 29 2017, which will see the actor reuniting with “The Equalizer” and “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua. Apart from the sequel, Washington is also working with the director on “The Magnificent Seven” remake.
“The Equalizer”, which was made on a production budget of $55 million went on to gross $192 million at the box office and could very well make way for a franchise. As the last movie saw Washington’s character walk away, one can expect this movie to be equally brilliant in action and perhaps see more gunfire this time around.
