The Millionaire Matchmaker Season 8 Premiere Recap: The Video Vixen and the Care Bear
The sassy top matchmaker, Patti Stanger, is back in the new episode of “The Millionaire Matchmaker” Season 8 Premiere “Larry Birkhead and Melyssa Ford,” which aired on Dec. 7, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. on Bravo. In this episode, meet the first VIP clients looking for their perfect match. Read on to know more about the clients’ journey in their quest for new love.
Melyssa Ford, 37, is an introverted and “nerdy” bombshell from New York City. She wants to find a mate who can spend life with her to the fullest. Patti watches her interview through a monitor.
Patti calls for a meeting with her assistants, Candace and David. She says Melyssa reminds her of Candace because of her sweetness. Candace takes it as a compliment. She was hired by Patti as the Director of Recruiting because she is a love and life coach, once a lawyer, an actress, gorgeous and clients like her. David, the Director of Matchmaking, was promoted because of his innovative ideas. Patti orients them about the new client, stressing that everybody looks at Melyssa the wrong way.
Melyssa is currently a real estate agent. She was the star of a TV show, “Blood, Sweat and Heels.” She started her career in music videos of Jay Z, Usher, Will Smith and other artists. She says she is still single because she does not want to settle for less.
Patti meets Melyssa in a restaurant to ask her questions that can help in finding her right match. Melyssa’s celebrity crush is Michael Fassbender. Melyssa has no problem with race for she thinks of herself as a “crayon box”. Her mother is Russian-Norwegian and her father is from Barbados. She even says her household is like United Nations. She prefers a man who is a college graduate, makes more money than her, wants to get married and have children and is taller than 6 feet.
Patti fearlessly says Melyssa’s butt is better than Kim Kardashian’s and is not fake. She then asks Melyssa if her sexuality can find her a right man. Melyssa thinks it can be a hindrance. Patti’s strategy for her is to not let sexuality lead her on impressions. She believes the major problem is people do not see Melyssa for who she really is because of her sexiness.
For the last question, Patti asks Melyssa about her most significant relationship. Melyssa shares it was with a guy named Joe. He was just a regular guy from the Bronx. He was patient with her and really was a good man. It ended because Melyssa was too young for what he was offering.
Patti tells Melyssa she will pick the right guy by mixing Joe’s good traits with her whole picture of what Melyssa likes in a man.
The second client is Larry Birkhead, 38, from Louisville, Kentucky. He is a shy guy and the nervous type. He is a photographer. His celebrity partner, Anna Nicole Smith, died for more than eight years now. He is ready to find love again and a mother for his daughter. Ever since Anna Nicole’s death, Larry never dated.
Larry meets with Patti in her office. Patti’s major concern is the “shrine” of Anna Nicole in his house may put off somebody who would date him. She thinks Larry is living in his past, but she is ready to coach him. She learns Larry is also living with his sister, niece, nephew and mother. She sees him devoting his time to anyone else that he has no more time for himself. She must make him change that as well.
Larry’s crush is Jennifer Love Hewitt. He wants a woman who loves the South and is willing to move to Kentucky. The woman must also be okay with preserving the memory of Anna Nicole. Larry starts to tear up as he remembers his daughter saying she wants him to fall in love again. He is totally ready for Patti to fix him up because he is not getting any younger. One of Patti’s concerns is girls might get frazzled when they notice him, so it will be in a form of blind date.
David is tasked to give Melyssa a “crayon box.” He must find a man who must not be too impressed by Melyssa’s video vixen personality. Candance, on the other hand, must teach Larry how to act in front of a girl in a mock date.
Patti gathers men and women in a party and watches them closely as they mingle with each other. This is her strategy on how to choose the right people. The frontrunners for Larry’s blind date are Michelle, who is a single mom; Lauren, who is a nurse and looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt; and Andrea, who works all the time with children as a dental student.
Melyssa must meet with the chosen men. She appears wearing a sexy dress. Patti is not happy about it, but she has no choice. Jay, a business owner, notices Melyssa instantly. Patti leaves Melyssa alone with the guys. Melyssa is terrified that she might not follow Patti’s advice to not let her sexuality flow. She is overwhelmed while Patti is walking away.
Larry is on a mock date with Candace. He keeps on saying cheesy lines. Candace tells him to keep it genuine and sincere. Larry also finds it difficult to make eye contact. Patti comes to the rescue and challenges Larry to “pick her up.” Finally, Larry gets the hang of it.
In the end, Melyssa chooses Jay because he is honest and likes her sincerely. Michelle is chosen by Patti for Larry because both are single parents. Both couples are successful and are on for a second date.
