The Thor: Ragnarok 2017 film is going to be more awesome and more retro, too, says its director.

Thor director Taika Waititi addressed the critics who said that Thor‘s character was too bland. Waititi told Polygon that he wanted to make the new Thor movie to be totally different. The Thor director gave further details about this on Reddit.

A Reddit user complained about Thor‘s lack of personality. The user even emphasized that compared to Loki, Thor is bland. Director Waititi responded, saying “Thor is awesome now.”

That is good to hear since Thor has been quite stiff in his previous entry. He was frequently spouting one liners and does not really possess a dynamic personality. Thor was either an angry Thor or a calm one, which made him very one dimensional.

Waititi stressed that he wanted to make Thor the most important character in his own film. The director even wanted Thor actor Chris Hemsworth to add some comedic flare to the movie. It really shows that Waititi is taking Thor’s personality issue seriously. And he is doing whatever it takes to address that concern.

Aside from that, the director is aiming for a more retro vibe for the Thor: Ragnarok 2017 movie. People might see something akin to the Guardians of the Galaxy movie’s retro music theme. This also happens to be Director Taika Waititi’s favorite Marvel movie! Waititi still hopes to surprise fans who will see his “crazy” film. The director even hinted that it will have a tone that is different from any other Marvel movie made, so far.

If that is the case, then Thor: Ragnarok 2017 will be a worthy addition to the Marvel movie lineup. This is alongside the funky Guardians of The Galaxy, which will also come up with a sequel of its own. It is a must for Thor actor Chris Hemsworth to save the movie especially that Natalie Portman would not be returning as Jane.

Thor: Ragnarok still has a long way to go before it will be released by the end of next year, Nov. 7, 2017. But given what the director has teased so far, fans can expect Thor: Ragnarok to deliver the goods.
