‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Update: Cate Blanchett Rumored For An Important Role
The newest installment in the Thor series in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe might get a new female villain, and rumor has it that Cate Blanchett will be playing the villain.
Yibada reports that MARVEL Studios is looking to hire acclaimed actress Cate Blanchett to play an important part in “Thor: Ragnarok”, and is rumored to be in talks with the head honchos of MARVEL. Sources from Variety say that she will be playing the character of a villain.
Blanchett may play a very important role in the story as the movie is going for a screenplay that will showcase an epic clash between the many important characters in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe in that movie, and her character.
Blanchett will obviously be perfect for the part as she is very good at working on films with fantasy and epic themes.
The actress has already made notable contributions in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, which includes a pivotal character portrayal in the “The Hobbit.”
Her recent work in “Truth” and in “Cinderella” has also been well received; and her most recent outing, “Carol”, is currently being appreciated as good piece of art.
Based on this, Blanchett is pretty good at dealing with both the drama and fantasy genres, and will be a perfect fit for “Thor: Ragnarok.”
So, will her character work with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster or will she be antagonistic towards her? The details regarding this are not really known yet.
What we do know about the film is that the Valkyries are going to play an important part in the film.
Valkyries are female warriors from Norse mythology and play an important part in the Nordic Ragnarok event, which has also been translated to the comics.
Apparently, the Valkyries are going to help the protagonists in some way and help fight in the big war for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his pals.
Will Cate Blanchett’s character fight them? It isn’t known yet as of now, but stay tuned for the updates.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will open in theaters on November 3, 2017.
