Tom Hardy Crosses Swords with a Journalist who Referred to him as a ‘Spoiled Baby’
If there’s one thing about Tom Hardy that everyone should be aware of is that “The Revenant” star believes in keeping a transparent communication especially with the press. So when recently a film journalist passed some remarks on the British actor, Hardy made it a point to hit him back with a reply.
According to The Guardian, it all started when a film journalist by the name of Drew McWeeny from HitFix stated that he had been waiting for four hours to interview Hardy just before “The Revenant” star cancelled. In his tweet, the journalist stated that spoiled babies like Tom count on the press needing access to them and staying quiet about how badly they behave. He further elaborated that the actor
In his tweet, the journalist stated that spoiled babies like the actor count on the press needing access to them and staying quiet about how badly they behave.
McWeeny further elaborated that the actor not doing press makes it impossible for anyone to do their jobs and if the actor was to portray his role in a movie, he still wouldn’t interview him. The rant finally concluded when the journalist admitted that being a movie star is a burden for Hardy and even thanked him sarcastically for making his job impossible because the actor is such a delicate flower.
The “Mad Max” star seems to have read every sentence of the rant and decided to reply to it with an open letter, which posted on his website. According to “The Revenant” star, he denied deliberately cancelling and stated that he wasn’t even aware that journalists were waiting.
Hardy said that no one informed the journalist that the interview was cancelled; he was only informed that they were running behind schedule. He also clarified that it was McWeeny who chose not to wait and left because if he had stayed back, he would have secured his interview as planned.
The actor even made a suggestion to Hitflix writer that instead of ranting on Twitter, the latter should say the same to him in person but doubted the journalist could do that.
Things didn’t quite settle down when McWeeny replied to one of Tom’s claims that stated both the actor and the journalist had an exchange of emails about the fiasco. The journalist tweeted again and clarified that he had not exchanged any emails with the actor and yet again sarcastically asked if they could keep the plot twists coming.
The duel eventually ended when Tom Hardy gave his best regards to the journalist and even thanked him for calling him an a**hole. This isn’t the first time Hardy has had this kind of experience with a journalist as earlier too he had a rather weird experience when a journalist asked him about his sexuality.
Vox added that Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy starrer “The Revenant” might be one of the most beautiful movies of this year because of the way it has been made.
