“How to Train Your Dragon 2” is a sci-fi adventure animated film from 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation. It is written and directed by Dean DeBlois. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 13, 2014. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” Synopsis:
We follow Hiccup and Toothless’ journey after five years. Snotlout, Astrid and the others are now engaging in races, a favorite sport in the Island of Berk. Hiccup and Toothless embark on a new adventure to discover and explore new places. In their journey, the inseparable pair discovers an ice cave that houses wild dragons and a dragon rider. Hiccup and Toothless see themselves in a battle once again, this time to unite and stand up for what they believe and realize that, together, they can change the future.
“How to Train Your Dragon” Review:
As revealed in Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, the critics gave the animated film a whopping 100%, and 98% of moviegoers would like to watch it.
Peter Debruge of Variety praised DreamWorks Animation for being able to come up with a sequel without compromising the quality of the story.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter’s Leslie Felperin noted how the film tackled the complexity of emotional bond between a man and an animal.
“Going beyond the pat eco-conscious message that every kids’ film has to have, HTTYD2 touches on how complex the emotional bond between a person and an animal can be,” wrote Felperin in her review in the Hollywood Reporter.
