‘Transformers 5’ Update: Likely to Feature Mark Wahlberg and Megan Fox; Possible Crossover With ‘G.I. Joe’
Mark Wahlberg, Megan Fox and several characters in the “G.I. Joe” film are slated to appear in the upcoming “Transformers 5“movie. The script for the fifth installment of the series is currently being rushed in order to meet Paramount’s 2017 deadline.
There have been doubts if Mark Wahlberg will return to reprise his role as the widower and inventor extraordinaire, Cade Yeager. Happily, the actor told CinePop that he is indeed returning for the fifth sequel. His character first appeared in the fourth “Transformer” film, Age of Extinction.
In “Transformers 4,” Yaeger repaired or “healed” Optimus Prime who is being hunted by a CIA special operations team. The human hunters are also aided by group of bounty hunters from Cybertron headed by Lockdown. It was later revealed that Lockdown has orders to capture Optimus Prime and bring him back to the Creators, beings who supposedly created both the Autobots and Decepticons.
Megan Fox, the lead actress who appeared in the initial two Transformer films is reportedly making a comeback in fifth sequel. Fox did not return and was replaced in “Transformers 3” due to some dispute with Director Michael Bay.
Rumours are also circulating that Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock” and Bruce Willis will also be included in Transformer 5. Speculations are rife of a Transformers and G.I. crossover. There may be some basis for the team up since the lead writer Akiva Goldsman was slated to write the upcoming G.I. Joe sequels. Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay the Transformers’ producer and director respectively have yet to announce their involvement in the upcoming Transformers 5 movie.
The storyline for “Transformers 5” will feature Autobots leader Optimus Prime’s traveling in space to seek out and confront the Creators. More details about the storyline are sure to come out as the writers finalized the scripts for the upcoming movie.
