Universal Pictures Turns 100

Universal Pictures celebrated its 100th year anniversary April 30. The film company was launched on April 30, 1912 in New York by Carl Laemmie. At present, it is the second oldest movie studio. It has churned out lots of iconic movies that include E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Sixteen Candles, Jaws, and Back to the Future. It also released some of the most popular franchises such as American Pie, Jurassic Park and The Fast and the Furious.  Universal Pictures

This summer, Universal Pictures has a good line up in store for movie lovers. They include Snow White and the Huntsman, Battleship and The Bourne Legacy. Battleship is already out in the United Kingdom and is scheduled to arrive in the United States on May 18. It stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, and Rihanna.


Snow White and the Huntsman will premiere in the US and UK on June 1. It stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Director Rupert Sanders hopes that the audience appreciates the emotional depth of the movie.


The Bourne Legacy is the latest installment of the Bourne franchise. The movie takes place after The Bourne Ultimatum. It features new characters played by Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton, and Rachel Weisz.
