Universal Finally Releases The Trailer for ‘Seventh Son’ [WATCH VIDEO]

Universal has finally unveiled a new trailer for Jeff Bridges much awaited action-fantasy pic “Seventh Son” loosely inspired by the novel “The Spook’s Apprentice.” For more details on this story, read on.

According to Deadline, the fantasy pic  was delayed and re-slated to be open on Oct. 18, 2013 to accommodate the VFX work. It was first scheduled to be released on Feb. 22, 2013.  Legendary Pictures agreed to give $5 million to recently bankrupt visual effects house Rhythm and Hues Studios so they would complete their work in “The Seventh Son.”

The distributing company then moves the pic again for a Jan. 17, 2014 opening, even taking the cast for a Q&A panel for Comic-con. But then Thomas Tull parted with them taking “Seventh Son” to Universal who has slated the project to be released on Feb. 6, 2015. Now, it will vie for theatrical supremacy against “Jupiter Ascending,” “Mortdecai” starring Johnny Depp and Universal’s SpongeBob movie.

“Seventh Son” follows Tom Ward, a seventh son of a seventh son and is adventures as the apprentice of the Spook, battling creatures, sorcery, and and evil queen Julianne Moore. “Seventh Son” is a loose adaptation of the novel “The Spook’s Apprentice” written by Joseph Delaney and is the first story in the series “The Wardstone Chronicles.” The sequel, “The Spook’s Curse”, and a third book, “The Spook’s Secret” were released in July 2006. The fourth book of the series, “The Spook’s Battle” was released on 5th of July 2007. “The Spook’s Mistake” was released on 5 June 2008. “The Spook’s Sacrifice” was released last summer of 2009 while “The Spook’s Nightmare” was released in Summer of 2010.

“Seventh Son” is directed by Sergei Bodrov and stars  Ben Barnes as Tom Ward and Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore as the Spook and Mother Malkin. They are joined by actors, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Djimon Hounsou who will play an original character exclusive to the film, Antje Traue and Olivia Williams. It features music composed by Marco Beltrami, who replaced A. R. Rahman and Tuomas Kantelinen. After having the release date shifted numerous times, it is scheduled to be released in 3-D and IMAX 3D on February 6, 2015.
