Sorry fans, but the whole Merida thing was actually a ploy of the producers – a marketing ploy that threw off the press and the fans for a little while when they planned leak casting details of Rumple’s mother. Fear not, though, because even though Merida in “Once Upon a Time” has nothing to do with Rumple’s genetics, Horowitz said that they are really planning to introduce Rumple’s mother soon.

As for “OUAT’s” new character, Merida, fans will meet her through Emma, “It’s certainly a part of Emma’s journey as the Dark Swan and dealing with her darkness. All that is tied with how we explore the world of Camelot this year,” Adam Horowitz added.

“Once Upon a Time’s” producers really want Merida to be a surprise, which is why they three people off the scent what they are really up to. During the Comic-Con 2015, “OUAT” showed fans a glimpse of Merida for the upcoming season of the fantasy series that you can watch here.

Sorry fans, but don’t worry because Rumple’s mother will come up in the future and the producers of the show are working on that as well plus “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 isn’t going to be the show’s last season, anyway. So there’s more to discover about the “OUAT” characters!
