USA Network Renews Sirens For Second Season
Look’s like TV’s resident funny EMTs are coming back! USA Network continued to have its faith on the network’s first ever original scripted comedy series, “Sirens.” The cast members include Michael Mosley (“Pan Am”), Kevin Daniels (“Modern Family”), Kevin Bigley (“Game Change”) and Jessica McNamee (“Home and Away”). Continue reading about the renewal update of the comedy series “Sirens” from USA Network.
“Sirens” follows the story of young paramedics working for the Eminent Ambulance Company in Chicago: Johnny, Hank and Brian. The pack is led by the charismatic EMT Johnny Farell (Michael Mosley) with his openly gay best friend Hank St. Clare (Kevin Daniels). They are joined by a newbie recruit named Brian Cyzk (Kevin Bigley). Completing the misfit posse is Johnny’s ex-girlfriend Theresa (Jessica McNamee) who worked as a patrol officer for the Chicago Police Department.
“Sirens” is adapted from the hit British television series by Brian Fillis based on Tom Reynolds’s novel, “Blood, Sweat & Tea.” The U.S. remake is created by “Rescue Me” actor/writer David Leary with “We’re the Millers” writer Bob Fisher. It is executively produced by Leary, Fisher, Jim Serpico, David Aukin, David Leach, Hal Vogel, Tom Sellitti, Erik Durbin and Josh Lieb.
The U.S. adaptation first aired on March 6, 2014, and Deadline reported that the network had green light for another season order for the series with 13 episodes. It was announced by USA Network President Chris McCumber. He also promised “a lot more laughs and irreverent humor” for the upcoming season 2.
The show’s first 10 episodes had started off slow until the series established a strong band of followers. The series was also hailed as the top new basic cable comedy series of the year, earning an average of 1.62 million U.S. viewers with 870,000 in the 25-54 age bracket.
“We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Denis Leary and Bob Fisher, whose unique brand of witty, off-kilter and laugh-out-loud writing is brought to life by the immensely talented cast,” said McCumber in the Deadline article.
That’s it for the “Sirens” update. Season 2 picks up after the events that happened in Season 1 Finale Episode 10 “Shotgun Wedding.” It was aired on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. on USA Network.
