Vanessa Hudgens tackling a completely different role you’ve never seen her performing before!

In her new movie Gimme Shelter, the sweet Gabriella plays the role of a 16-year old girl named Apple who deals with all-too-real issues: pregnancy and homelessness, while she’s looking for help and desperate for love. She spends her childhood in several different foster homes with an abusive mother.

She has to struggle a lot in her life until she finds salvation in a suburban shelter for homeless teens. The shelter provides her comfort and a collective sisterhood connection which she had never thought of. It helps Apple grooming into a mature lady having a clear vision about her future who gathers hope not only for herself but also for her unborn baby.

Regarding her difficult role in the movie, Hudgens said that she embraced every challenge with open arms. She not only had to cut off her long hair, but she also experienced a frightening car crash. She also had to gain 15 pounds for her character and despite all this, she calls the whole experience “surreal.”

“My character Apple was a very challenging role for me to play,” the 20-year-old actress says at the start of the trailer. “But extremely rewarding as well.”
