Vintage ‘Saturday Night Live’ Episodes to Air on NBC
Before SNL’s 40th season premiere this weekend, NBC will be launching “SNL Vintage,” which will re-air classic episodes of the show at 10:00 p.m. every Saturday. To find out what it is, read on.
According to Entertainment Weekly (EW), the first episode of “SNL Vintage” will re-air the first season episode featuring Richard Pryor as host and Gil Scott-Heron as the night’s musical guest. By Oct. 4, 2014, NBC will jump up a bit, airing its 2000th episode from season 25 featuring Christopher Walken and Christina Aguilera for the roles of host and guest.
Season 40 will be kicked off by “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt who will be making his debut hosting SNL, he will be accompanied by Ariana Grande who will be making her debut as musical guest.
Pratt is currently working on the final season of “Parks and Recreation.” He will be seen next on “Jurassic World,” which is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2015 and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel, where he will reprise his iconic role. Pratt will debut as host on Sept. 27, 2014 at 11:30 p.m. after “SNL Vintage” airs at 10:00 pm.
SNL alums, Sarah Silverman and Bill Hader will also be making their return on “Saturday Night Live!” to host the show’s second and the Oct. 11, 2014 episodes of its 40th season respectively. Silverman who was a cast member of the show from 1993 to 1994 and Hader who has worked for eight seasons for the show will both be making their debut hosting on SNL. Silverman will be joined by musical Guest is Maroon 5, who has already appeared four times on the show while Hader will be joined by Hozier. The new season will feature two new members of the cast, Pete Davidson and “The Daily Show’s” Michael Che, who will replace Cecily Strong as “Weekend Update” co-anchor.
Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary special is set to air on Feb. 15, 2015.
