War for the Planet of the Apes Star Andy Serkis Deserves Acting Award?
Star Wars: Episode VIII is not the only film Andy Serkis is appearing in 2017. He will also appear in War for the Planet of the Apes, which is written by Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback and directed by Matt Reeves.
A sequel to the 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes will be released by 20th Century Fox on July 14, 2017. It is produced by Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark.
In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, Clark said Serkis was one of the best actors that he and Reeves have ever worked with. The producer said watching the actor do the things he can do with his character War for the Planet of the Apes character is “a real pleasure” and the audience picks up on it.
According to Clark, Serkis could do any character he wants. The producer admitted that he is a big fan of the actor.
Serkis received a Best Supporting Actor nomination from the Golden Globe Awards in 2008 for his performance in Longford and the same nomination from the Primetime Awards in 2009 for his performance in Little Dorrit. He has received two nominations from the BAFTA Awards.
Among Serkis’ co-stars in War for the Planet of the Apes are Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Gabriel Chavarria and Judy Greer. Van Helsing actor Aleks Paunovic, Prison Break: Sequel actor Billy Wickman and Lauro Chartrand, a stunt coordinator of Van Helsing and Prison Break: Sequel, are also in the cast.
In War for the Planet of the Apes, Serkis plays Caesar. In Star Wars: Episode VIII, he reprises his role as Supreme Leader Snoke.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on Dec. 15, 2017. It also stars Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, Big Little Lies actress Laura Dern and Watership Down actor John Boyega.
