Will Damian Lewis Be The Next James Bond?
There have been rumors that Damian Lewis could become the next James Bond. The rumor has made British bookmakers to slash their odds on Lewis taking the 007 role, replacing Daniel Craig.
According to the People magazine, many actors have been suggested as potential replacements for star Daniel Craig, 47, after the new James Bond film “Spectre” releases on theaters in the month of November. The U.K Oddsmakers have become aware of the increase in bets on Damian Lewis becoming the Next James Bond.
On June 15, The Telegraph stated that U.K’s top bookmaker, William Hill, had altered the odds that Damian would win the role. Lewis’ odd have gone from “25 to 1” to “3 to 1,” thus making Lewis right behind the most favorite Idris Elba having odds of “5 to 2.”
The source also reported that William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams is surprised about the bets of up to £200 on Lewis being the next 007. The surge in bets for no obvious reasons shocks him.
The source further reveals that Daniel is widely anticipated to give up the franchise after the next film, “Spectre.”
The 44-years-old “Homeland” star Lewis showed no interest in the betting until this weekend, said the report. However, the surge in odds from 50/1 to 4/1, has improved his curiosity.
Damian has also starred in the 2014 film “The Silent Storm” in addition to “Homeland,” reports Variety on June 16. The source also said that the executive producers of “The Silent Storm” are the children of Bond producer Albert Broccoli – Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
The source also reports that on June 15, Barbara and Wilson’s Eon released the behind-the-scenes footage of the opening sequence of “Spectre,”on YouTube and Eon’s website, 007.com.
