‘Wonder Woman’ Movie, Cast Update: Chris Pine Turns Down Green Lantern, Plays Steve Trevor
“Star Trek” franchise actor Chris Pine was in talks to play the next Green Lantern after an unsuccessful attempt by Ryan Reynolds. Many believed that with his good looks and acting prowess Pine would make a fine Hal Jordan, a fighter pilot who gets chosen by Abin Sur’s ring. However, if reports are to be believed he was in talks with Warner Bros. to discuss another character as well and that was Steve Trevor. According to IGN, Warner Bros. have finally found the man to play the role as the love interest of “Wonder-Woman” in the upcoming DC movie. It is being said that Steve Trevor was a US Army Intelligence officer whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, which is said to be Princess Diana’s home. She took care of him, nursed him back to health and ultimately followed him eventually becoming Wonder Woman. The actor was also rumored to play the lead role of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern in “Green Lantern Corps” movie, however, that is something in the past. Steve Trevor is also said to have connections with the Justice League and ARGUS. The latter was formed to liaison with and support the superhero team.
In one of the origin story where Darkseid attacks Prime Earth, Steve is made the first head of the agency who later on takes charge and is known as the highest -ranking field agent. Pine will be seen in the role in the upcoming “Wonder Woman” after the character makes her debut in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
After Pine signed a multi-picture deal with Warner Bros., it will be interesting to see how well does he bring the character on screen. It was because there are chances we could see him in possible sequels too.
With a talented actor like Chris Pine joining the DC Cinematic Universe and their one of the most anticipated movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” gearing up for release, it will surely give Marvel Cinematic Universe a run for its money.
