‘World War Z 2’ Confirmed! Release Date Set To 2017; Goes Head On With ‘Fantastic Four 2’
The critically acclaimed Zombie apocalypse movie “World War Z” will be having a sequel set to premiere in 2017. The movie was based on the novel of same name by Max Brooks.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt has confirmed that a “World War Z 2″ is in the works. The zombie apocalypse sequel will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona who has previously worked on the disaster drama “The Impossible.” Screenwriter Steven Knight’s services have been enlisted for the movie and will be working closely with the director on this movie’s script.
With “World War Z,” Brad Pitt had successfully established a potential franchise for his production company. It has, however, yet to be confirmed if he will be reprising his role as Gerry Lane in the sequel. Lane is an investigator for UN who sets out across the globe trying to figure out a possible cure for the outbreak.
On the other hand “Fantastic Four” reboot featuring Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Susan Storm, Michael. B. Jordan as Johnny Storm and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm that will be premiering this year also has plans to release a sequel in 2017 and there are chances that both the sequels will clash at the box office in the same year.
It would be interesting to see both a superhero flick and a zombie movie clash at the box office and see who comes out on top. The latter movie’s first part had managed to settle for almost half a billion dollar at the box office and proved to be a magnanimous hit. It is yet to be seen how the superhero reboot performs at the box office as it too has managed to pull audience’s attention towards it.
