X-Men: Apoclaypse Starts Casting

Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters is now accepting enrollees for their new term. The initial casting for the upcoming “X-Men: Days of Future Past” sequel, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” has now begun. Read on for further details.

“X-Men” helmer Bryan Singer took the news to social media site, Instagram, by posting a pic of a couple of empty chairs captioned: “The glamorous casting process begins! #XmenApocalypse”

With the timeline changed due to paradoxes that occurred in “Days of Future Past,” Apocalypse will see the return of well known X-Men characters, albeit in new cast as well as the return of James McAvoy (Professor X) Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique).

“X-Men: Apocalypse” will begin shooting in April 2015 in Montreal, where “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was also shot, setting up on Mel’s Studio, where the previous film generated over $100 million for the local economy of Montreal. “X-Men: Apocalypse” will also feature the villain En Sabah Nur or Apocalypse and his four horsemen who were featured in the post-credit scenes of “Days of Future Past.”

Apocalypse, heralded as “the first one,” is one of the very first mutants born in the age of ancient pharaohs in Egypt. He is both thousands of years old and a monstrous tyrant that has been a longtime foe of the X-Men. He believes that only the strongest, whether mutant or superhuman, should survive. He is the master of the Four Horsemen, of which has made several incarnations within the comic books consisting of mutants and nonmutants alike.

Singer will direct the pic from a script by Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris and Simon Kinberg, with filming beginning in Montreal on April 2015. “X-Men: Apocalypse” will hit the big screens on May 27, 2016, occupying the same Memorial Day slot for “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” It will be facing off against Disney’s planned “Alice in Wonderland 2,” similarly how “Days of Future Past” squared off against Disney’s “Maleficent.”
