“The Slap” is an upcoming eight-episode NBC miniseries. It is based on a short-lived Australian drama of the same name, which aired in 2011. According to Deadline, the series is described as a complex family drama. Everything starts to unravel when a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. This action causes the family to explode as dispute arises and family secrets are brought out in the open. Things get progressively worse when a lawsuit is served, which challenges not only their family values, but the values of every American family.

Zachary Quinto, one of the two new additions to the cast, will be portraying Harry. Harry is a car mechanic and dealer, who specializes in expensive European cars. He is married, has a 15-year-old son, and lives with his family in Brooklyn. He is hot tempered and is always raring to pick a fight. The Hollywood Reporter noted Harry is a firm believer in loyalty towards the family.  Harry will be the one who will slap another couple’s misbehaving child, which causes his family to unravel.

Quinto is best known for his work on television and in film. His most memorable roles include Sylar from “Heroes” (2006 to 2010), Dr. Oliver Thredson and Chad Warwick from “American Horror Story” (2011 to 2013), and Spock from the 2009 reboot of “Star Trek” and “Star Trek: Into Darkness” (2013).

In a scoop from TV Line, actor Brian Cox will portray Manolis, Harry’s father and the patriarch of the family. Manolis is stern, generous, the peacemaker within the family and devoted to them. He is the epitome of old family values and traditions.

Cox is known for his work on both television and film. His acting credits include “Manhunt” (1970), “The Negotiator” (1994), “Rob Roy” (1995), “Braveheart” (1995), “Nuremberg” (2000),”The Bourne Identity” (2002), “X-Men 2” (2003), “Deadwood” (2006), “Doctor Who” (2009) and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011).
